Aerating
We have all the right equipment for large scale intensive
aerating or lighter, more frequent treatment.
Our hollow tine implements vary in width from 1 metre
to 2.5 metres. They are ideal for school quadrangles
and ovals, active and passive fields, estate entry statements
and small areas under stress from pedestrian traffic.
Broadacre Liquid Fertilising
Lawn Doctor recommends Iron and Manganese Foliar spraying
for turf areas showing signs of deficiency such as chlorotic
yellowing and folding over of the leaves. The spraying
adds vigour and greatly enhances the appearance. This
is a very cost effective treatment and you save money
by not using unnecessary Nitrogen and phosphorous.
Lawn Doctor own a purpose-built, computer controlled
DGPS boom spray equipped with foam markers which gives 100
per cent accuracy of application.
Consultancy
Eighty per cent of Lawn Doctor staff have turf and/or
horticulture certificates so we've got the know-how
to find a solution to any problem.
We can develop a lawn care program that suits your
budget. We can also accurately measure your grounds,
whatever their shape or size, to help you plan an effective
work program.
Flail Mowing
This machine removes more thatch than verti-mowing
for a more thorough renovation.
Granular Fertilising
Your grass needs to be in top condition to cope with
winter dormancy.
We assess your turf, including soil and leaf analysis,
and devise the most cost effective fertiliser programs
with exactly the right type and amount of fertiliser.
Our staff know all the issues. Many factors including
soil, grass type and timing affect the choice of fertiliser
and heavy wear areas may need additional fertiliser.
Our DGPS fertilising unit accurately calibrates the rate
at which fertiliser is applied to your grounds. An independent
consultant checks the calculations and we keep detailed
records on a spreadsheet.
Lawn Doctor promises that the fertiliser type and application
will not harm the environment.
Herbicide Spraying
We do not believe in unnecessary chemical spraying.
Our weed management service is subject to a code of
ethics and our strong environmental ethos.
While spraying is often the only way to control weeds
and diseases we will always recommend other methods
if possible.
Our licensed spraying operators ensure that only the
correct chemical is used at recommended rates. Their
training includes accurate identification of weeds,
pests and diseases and selection of appropriate action.
Any spraying at schools is done out of school hours.
Levelling/top dressing
Lawn Doctor aims for total grass coverage within three
weeks.
We start with clean, cream sand which we screed in
different directions. This creates a totally level surface
with even coverage. We then turn on the irrigation to
settle the sand and ensure the sprinklers
are working. We provide a watering program during the
establishment period.
Mowing
Lawn Doctor knows how to care for entry statements,
golf course fairways, shire ovals, school grounds and
more. We guarantee a clean, aesthetically pleasing finish
every time.
We have machines for slashing, cylinder mowing, gang
mowing and out front mowing of passive grass areas.
Our qualified mechanics maintain all equipment to the
highest standards and presentation is second to none.
Planting and Overplanting
Overplanting can strengthen a weak turf surface or
allow you to change to a more suitable species of turf.
There is an even coverage and no preparation is required.
Lawn Doctor aims for a very good coverage in 13 weeks
in favourable conditions. Our custom built overplanter
cuts furrows, positions stolons and discs and rolls
in one action. There is little disturbance to the surface
and the furrows collect water to keep stolons moist
and assist a quick recovery. We have planting machines to cover areas from road verges to golf courses to turf farms.
Sweeping
We have a variety of sweepers for different applications. These tow behind a landcruiser for picking up excess clippings and tractor drawn for picking up after scarification’s. This allows for both efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Training
Lawn Doctor's training and horticultural consultant, Paul St Jack, delivers unique training programs that exactly match your requirements. Paul has a Certificate IV IN ASSESSMENT AND WORKPLACE TRAINING and is a part time lecturer at Challenger TAFE, Murdoch. His background includes facilitation of seminars for the Department of Education, Council employees and members of the Lawnmowing Contractors Association of WA (Inc).
Paul assists
with identifying training needs and assessing
the capabilities of new gardeners. This is essential
for occupational safety because a significant part of
a gardener's time is spent alone.
Modules include Introduction to School Gardening, School
Grounds Watering, Turf Management, Grounds Maintenance,
Safety and Pesticides.
Scarifying/Verti-Mowing
Lawn Doctor recommends verti-mowing for spongy, difficult
to cut turf. A telltale sign is grass scalped by mowers
digging in.
The verti-mower removes thatch and excessive vegetation
to encourage strong regrowth. We have machine configurations
for all situations and provide a watering program during
the establishment period.
Our machines vary in size from 0.5 m to 4.5m. The heavy-duty scarifiers reach 40mm into the soil without problems.
Verti-Draining
This is the solution for playing fields with compaction
and drainage problems. The vert-drain shatters the
soil up to 400mm deep so air, water and fertiliser can
disperse effectively. Turf becomes more stress resistant
and needs less frequent watering. Verti-draining works
well in all types of soil using solid or hollow coring
tines. The turf can be played on immediately.
Construction
For large hectare projects or small turf areas, Lawn Doctor is the professional contractor with the equipment and expertise able to organise, design and facilitate your grounds construction
Recycle Dressing
For a more comprehensive turf renovation that includes top dressing, deep aeration and decompaction. Already proven in Europe we are having a lot of success here in WA. This machine allows you to use your own existing soil so eliminating layering which limits root penetration and surface stability. The Recycle Dresser also improves water infiltration and increases root mass. It also provides compaction relief to 220mm in depth and leads to an increased microbial activity due to the unlocking of nutrients that have been trapped. It will also level divots, corrugations etc.
Field Top Making
The ultimate in thatch and weed removal, this machine removes thatch by shaving a profile of the turf area. It has adjustable rollers so the machine can be set to suit various heights. This leads to a very level-playing surface and depending on the depth it is the only environmentally friendly way to remove problem weeds such as Parramatta. By setting the machine to 25mm the plant is totally removed including the seedbed, this greatly reduces any further germination. This machine has also been proven at the WACA as a excellent cost effective and non labour intensive way to shave your cricket wickets. The Field Top Maker is another innovative machine that has already been proven in Europe.
Small Machinery
For that job that’s too small for broadacre equipment, Lawn Doctor bring to you their mid range construction, planting and renovation equipment. We have equipment to reduce your labour costs by cutting back on manual handling.
