Description

Freehand Lawn Herbicide – Emergent Weed Killer and Fertiliser

Freehand herbicide introduces a new active ingredient for use in landscape ornamentals and turf– dimethenamid-P combined with pendimethalin (that’s right – you can use it in your garden too!). Controls broadleaf weeds and grasses.

Freehand prevents weeds from growing and multiplying by inhibiting cell growth in seedling shoots and impeding plant cell microtubule assembly in roots. This powerful herbicide is labeled for the control and suppression of more than 60 of the toughest, most troublesome weeds; promoting higher quality and more marketable plants, and more attractive turf.

Targeted Weeds:

  • Summer Grass
  • Barnyard Grass
  • Chickweed
  • Fleabane
  • Blackberry
  • Cudweed
  • Creeping Oxalis
  • White Clover
  • Crowsfoot Grass
  • Paspalum
  • Dandelion

When do you apply it?

Apply Freehand year round to control the above mentioned weeds. If you are looking to target a certain weed, look at when that seedling normally germinates and apply Freehand a few weeks prior. For example, if you wanted to control summer grass in your lawn, you’d apply Freehand from September onward, as soil temperatures begin to increase and summer grass seedlings then begin to germinate.

How and when to apply

Ornamentals: Freehand may be applied individually to each pot, or pots can be grouped together and distributed using a granule applicator or gloved hand. After application, ensure granules are brushed or washed off foliage.

Turf: Ensure area is clean of debris prior to application. Freehand may be applied and distributed using a granule applicator or gloved hand. Oscillating spout or rotary type fertiliser spreaders are recommended for large areas. Even application is important for good weed control. If using a granule applicator, ensure they are properly calibrated to apply granules evenly.

Freehand application should be followed by irrigation or rainfall, before weeds germinate. If Freehand is not activated by rainfall or irrigation within 30 days, erratic weed control may result.

How long does Freehand Lawn Herbicide last?

One application of freehand provides residual control that stops weeds as they germinate for up to 3 months, giving season long weed control.

Coverage

I x 1kg bottle of Freehand will cover 100sqm per application.

Your lawn still needs a feed

Note well

Applying a pre-emergent herbicide is a lawn care practice that takes time to get used to as there is no visible result from applying it to already weedy lawns. It only prevents new weeds from forming. If you’ve got a lawn full of weeds, then get them under control first and then apply a pre-emergent regularly to keep them under control.

Keeping your lawn in good condition through regular maintenance and fertilisation helps keep weeds at bay and is a better option than controlling weeds by spraying all the time.

Many winter weeds are a problem because of weak grass swards. These weak grass swards actually start in summer – usually through dry patch. See Lawn Doctor’s guide to eradicating dry patches in your lawn –
