Barricade is a liquid pre-emergent herbicide that provides effective weed control in established turf before germination occurs. Applied through a pump or knapsack sprayer, Barricade penetrates more effectively than granular alternatives in dense or thatchy turf where granules may not reach the soil surface.

The active ingredient in Barricade inhibits the growth of germinating weed seeds, forming a protective zone in the soil that prevents establishment without affecting established turf. It is effective against wintergrass, crowsfoot, poa annua and a range of other broadleaf and grass weeds common in Perth lawns.

Barricade is the recommended alternative to OxaFert in situations where:

  • The lawn has heavy thatch that may prevent granular products reaching the soil

  • Previous granular applications have produced uneven results

  • A more targeted liquid application is preferred

Timing is identical to granular pre-emergents — apply before weed seed germination begins, targeting May to early June in Perth. Water in after application to activate the barrier.

Always follow label directions for rate and compatibility. Check label before use on Sir Walter Buffalo as some herbicide actives can cause sensitivity in buffalo varieties.

Barricade is a selective pre-emergent herbicide that provides residual control of weeds in established turf, garden beds and potted plants. Importantly it breaks the germination cycle of Poa annua (winter grass).

Barricade controls susceptible weeds by interfering with cell division in the root tips of newly germinated weeds. Barricade herbicide controls a wide range of pre-emergent grassy weeds.

You can trust Barricade to last for up to 6 months so your application window is more flexible. Barricade binds high in the soil profile ensuring turf roots below the barrier are not affected and your turf stays in prime condition.

Weeds Targeted

Wintergrass, Crowsfoot grass, Crab Grass, Summer Grass, Rye Grass, Parramatta Grass, African Lovegrass and broadleaf weeds including creeping oxalis, cudweed, chickweed and thistle.

Restraints

DO NOT blend BARRICADE onto dry fertiliser or any other granular material
DO NOT apply with aircraft or through any type of irrigation equipment
DO NOT apply to turf under stress
DO NOT apply to golf course putting greens or bowling greens
DO NOT apply to newly seeded, sodded or sprigged turf. Delay application until turf is at 100% cover and
root system is developed beyond a 3 cm depth
DO NOT apply to garden beds over the top of mulch
DO NOT apply to recently re-potted or newly potted seeds, cuttings, divisions or plants. Also do not apply to shallow rooted planted including bulbs and annuals. Allow a period of establishment within which a substantial root system can be developed. Do Not plant newly planted seeds in treated area for 6 months.

DO NOT apply if heavy rain has been forecast within 48 hours
DO NOT apply to waterlogged soil
DO NOT irrigate to the point of runoff within 3 days of application
DO NOT apply to turf which is not well established

Mandatory No-Spray Zones

DO NOT apply if there are aquatic and wetland areas including aquacultural ponds, surface streams and
rivers within 120 metres downwind from the application area
DO NOT apply if there are sensitive crops, gardens, landscaping vegetation, protected native vegetation or
protected animal habitats within 20 metres downwind from the application area
DO NOT apply if using Monument®
Liquid Turf Herbicide and BARRICADE tank mix for control of winter
grass if non-target vegetation is within 60 metres downwind from the application area
